We're a volunteer-run, no-kill rescue with a cat café on Livernois. Nearly every cat you meet at the Catfé Lounge is ready to go home with you.

What brings you here?

Adopt a cat Fees, the application and who's available. Visit the Catfé Coffee, an hour with the cats, and events. Foster a cat Open your home to a cat until they find one of their own. Volunteer Give a few hours a week at the Catfé or beyond. Get help with a cat Surrender, community cats and our food pantry.

Who we are

Ferndale Cat Shelter is a 501(c)(3), no-kill rescue serving metro Detroit since 2014. We provide medical care, adoption, foster homes and trap-neuter-return for cats who need it, and we try to raise the bar for how cats are cared for in our community.

Our licensed shelter is the Catfé Lounge, a cat café that doubles as the hub for adoptions, volunteering and events. At any given time we care for 175+ cats between the Catfé and our foster homes. In 2023 alone we placed 700 cats and kittens in homes.

What we do

Rescue

We hear from families almost every day who can't keep their cat because of a death, a move or allergies. We don't judge. We look for the best outcome for the cat and the people.

Rehabilitate

Every cat is examined by our vet, vaccinated and microchipped before going to a new home. That care is paid for entirely by donations, admissions and adoption fees.

Rehome

We never euthanize for space. Every cat stays with us until they find a home, through adoption, foster care or our Forever Fosters program for seniors and special-needs cats.
