Adopting
A volunteer will review it and contact you about next steps. Our adoption team is entirely volunteers, so it can take up to a week. Thanks for your patience.
It helps us screen adopters, but mostly it's a chance for you to ask questions and get your home ready. Most visits take under 30 minutes and happen over Zoom.
Spay or neuter surgery, rabies and distemper vaccines, a microchip, deworming and flea treatment. That's more than $250 at most metro Detroit vets, before counting cats who need surgery, hospital stays or ongoing medication. See adoption fees for current prices.
No. Whoever will care for the cat needs to be part of the adoption from the start. Pets given as gifts are often returned, and our goal is a lasting match.
Never. Fees offset the cost of vet care. If cost is a concern, look into fostering or Forever Fosters; we cover food, supplies and medical care for foster cats.
Fostering
About 20 cats live at the Catfé, but we care for 175+ at a time. Fosters house the rest, including kittens too young to be spayed, seniors who need medication, and adults waiting for a spot. Fosters also take their cats to vet visits and host screened adopters for meet-and-greets.
No. We provide wet and dry food, litter, supplements and medication at no cost. Need bowls, a bed, a litter box or toys? Just ask.
Ask your foster coordinator. Many foster cats are still waiting on vaccines or tests. If you can't keep them separate, we'll match you with a cat who's already fully vetted.
You wouldn't be the first. Just tell us before the cat is promised to someone else, and you're welcome to adopt.
