Meet them first
Spend time alone with any cat you're considering. You may know exactly what you want, but the cat gets a vote too. The Catfé is the easiest place to do this.

Look for a personality match
Want a lap cat? Look for one who's happy to be held. Want a playmate? Pick the one who engages with you, not the one napping in the corner. Our volunteers know every cat and can point you in the right direction.

Choose an age that fits your life
Kittens need training, supervision and a lot of energy, and we place them in pairs. Adult cats usually arrive litter-trained, with a settled routine and a known personality.

Ask about health
Ask about vaccines, spay or neuter status and any ongoing needs, and get the medical records at adoption to share with your vet.

See your vet soon after
Schedule a checkup right after adoption. Your vet will plan follow-up vaccines and routine care. Pet insurance is worth considering for the long haul.
